101 Uses for a Dead Credit Card

My loving family is always so supportive.
When I started writing this blog back in September, the only comment I got from my Better Half was ‘Nice blog, but how much more is there to say about credit cards? They make good windscreen scrapers?’.
Come to think of it, he may not actually have started the sentence with ‘Nice blog’…

Ruddy Philistine, I fumed, there is PLENTY left unsaid about credit cards.  Just think of all the history, the technological development, the politics, and the rich cultural heritage of the plastic card. The world is hungry for a blog on this subject, the time is ripe, there is a conspicuous gap in the market and I am just the woman to fill it.  How much more is there to say about credit cards?  Just watch me.  Watch and learn.

And then I had yet another brilliant idea.
What DO people use their old plastic cards for?
Because for once in his life, Better Half had made a valid point: plastic cards actually DO make good windscreen scrapers.  Invaluable on a frosty morning, when you are in a tearing hurry to get to work, and don’t have time to tear the house apart looking for the correct tool.
And no doubt there are numerous other useful applications.

If Simon Bond can come up with 101 Uses for a Dead Cat, I’m pretty sure that, with a little help from my friends, I can come up with 101 Uses for a Dead Credit Card.
So there you have it, Use number one: windscreen scraper.
Just one hundred left to go.
Watch this space.

  1. Bend card in half. Makes a nifty door wedge.

(N.B. Best NOT done with a currently active card).
