Definitely make sure you use an old, unwanted or out-of-date card for this, as there is a possibility of it snapping.
The thinner, more flexible type of card is best for this.
What to do:
Step 1: slide your card into the gap between the door and the frame next to the lock. The card should be pointing towards you, at 90 degrees to the door. Push it forward as far as you can.
Step 2: bend the card so it is almost touching the door knob. Now try and wiggle it a little further into the gap.
Step 3: lean against the door, applying gentle but constant pressure.
Step 4: now turn the card the opposite way, back towards the door frame. With any luck this will force the lock open and you will be in.
On the other hand, you may find that the card breaks, jams in the lock and makes the situation worse that it was to start with. If you are spotted by a nosey neighbour, you may even be unlucky enough to find yourself under arrest...
Disclaimer: Charlotte Mooney and ProSwift in no way condone breaking and entering, burglary or any other form of nefarious activity...
It is illegal to use this method to gain admission to premises you are not normally entitled to enter.
If you are unfortunate enough to get locked out of your own house or lose your keys, however, this just may save your bacon!
