Personalised Cards: What Would you Put on Yours?

I'm so excited!  I've just found out that you can get a personalised debit card, with any picture you like on the front!  I'm informed by my ProSwift colleagues, who know about these things, that the technology has been around for several years now, but has not been widely available for reasons of cost.

Several UK banks are now offering this service; the one I have been looking at is from the Halifax.  Currently it is available for their 'Ultimate Reward' current account holders, but is due to be extended to everyone who banks with them soon. That is great, as that includes me.  I will have to give some thought to what should go on the front of my very own card.

In the meantime I have been having a play with the preview feature on the Halifax website.  The result is the 'Zombie Card' featuring my youngest daughter in last year's Halloween fancy dress costume.
An impressive use of costume and stage make-up that deserves to be preserved for posterity, I think!

BTW we have a make-up expert in the family who was responsible for the Zombie transformation.  Have at look at her blog, Hues & Blues, if you are interested in that sort of thing.

There are of course a few rules about what you can and cannot put onto your personalised card.  Obviously any image subject to copyright is out of the question, as are pictures of celebrities, trademarks and logos.  It goes without saying that lewd, provocative or sexual images are banned, along with any offensive material  (e.g. images, signs, symbols or text relating to violence, death, injury, racism, cruelty, profanity, obscenity, weapons, firearms, ammunition or terrorism).  The Halifax reserve the right to reject any image they believe to be inappropriate or in breach of their guidelines.

Has anyone already got a personalised card?  What would you put on yours?

  1. What other banks are doing this, apart from the Halifax?

  2. Natwest used to, but I think they have withdrawn the service now. Same goes for the RBS.
Anyone know any others? What about outside of the UK?

  3. Hi Charlotte. In the U.S., I know that Capital One lets you personalize cards, using their stock images or your own (which have to conform to certain pixel-dimension requirements). My memory is that there were some good stock images...a very fine chocolate lab, for instance.

  4. Hi Kit. You can bet your bottom dollar that with a world of photography and fine art to choose from, 99% of use will opt for a picture of our pet. And why not?
